ABPA launches the annual report
La Asociación Brasileña de Proteína Animal (ABPA) lanzó oficialmente en abril el Informe Anual ABPA 2024.
The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) officially launched the ABPA Annual Report 2024 in April. The report provides an overview of strategic issues for the sector's competitiveness, with detailed data on exports of chicken meat, pork, eggs, duck and turkey meat and poultry genetics.
In 2023, 5.3 billion chickens were slaughtered, with Brazilian production going to 65.35% of the domestic market and 34.65% of the foreign market. The cost of producing chicken was lower than in 2022, closing at R$4.67/kg live.
For pigs, slaughter closed at 46.5 million, with Brazilian production going to 76.15% of the domestic market and 23.85% to exports. The cost of production is very challenging, but has managed to regress compared to 2021 and 2022, closing at R$6.21/kg live.
